Orach spinach is also called French spinach, German spinach, Garden orache, or saltbush. This hardy annual herb grows up to 72 inches in height and has a mineral flavor with a hint of fennel! But its colors are most stunning ranging from magenta to chartreuse!
Planting Orach Spinach:
- Sow seeds in the spring after the last frost, and as soon as the ground is workable.
- Plant seeds two inches apart in rows that are 12-18 inches apart.
- Cover them with a thin layer of soil.
- Once they're 6 inches tall, thin the plants spacing them to 12-18 inches apart.
- The thinned seedlings can be consumed in salads.
- Plant them in a spot where they'll receive morning sun and water regularly.
- The plants should be ready for harvest within 30-40 days.
