How to Grow Moringa Trees

Native to the Indian subcontinent, the tropical plant is hardy in suitable conditions, but can also be grown indoors in pots in cooler climates. This tree is also great to grow because it's free of any known diseases or pests.

How to Grow Moringa Trees in Your Garden

USDA Zones:

Suitable for USDA zones 9 through 11. Cooler zones may grow moringa trees in pots indoors.

Planting Moringa Trees:

• Choose a sunny location that will receive at least 6 hours of sunlight per day.
• Keep away from windy areas.
• Soil should be deep, rich in organic matter, fertile, and well draining.
• Plant a moringa seed, a seedling, or a small moringa tree directly into the soil or in a pot.
• Water immediately after planting and tamp down.
• Once the plant is established, it does not need watering unless there is severe drought.

Feeding Moringa Trees:

• Feed your moringa tree with some manure or compost to make sure it thrives.
• If the plant is not doing well, you can also apply some fertilizer during the growing period.

Growing Moringa in Pots:

• If you live in a colder climate, keep moringa outside in pots only in the summer and in direct sunlight.
• In the winters, move the moringa plant indoors towards a south facing window.
